- 2 minutes read - 281 wordsIn the possessions of C.W. Bastiaans (Grandpa) I found the photo (figure 1) years ago. For a long time I didn’t know who the other person in the photo was. It turned out to be Tinus Guit.
Another face added.
Many years the man next to grandfather was unknown to me, I know now (2019) that it is Tinus Guit. Thanks to his son P. Guit. "He arrived in India in November '39, did mechanics school and then ols and to Singosari, Malang-JAVA (1-VLG-II)[1]. Allards
Sjaak Allards is also a new face of the crew of 122 (NEI) sqn. In Figure 3 with a P-51 Mustang. Tinus and Sjaak were inseparable. In figure 2 both for the B-25 N5-261 'The Pool Bee'.

Tinus Guit and Sjaak Allards were inseparable. Here together befor a B-25. The B-25 'The Pool Bee' in the photo belonged to 18 Squadron. The (yellow) wing logo under the registration N5-261 is typical of the early years of 18 squadron. It concerns a transport B-25 (type T) no. 44-31203. The plane finally crashed on 22-12-49 between Morotai (21VB) and Makassar, 2 victims. The N5-261 was part of 16 squadron (Palembang Sumatra), officially established on 01-11-46 and towards the end at the 20th (transport squadron). |
